alzheimers disease?

I am doing a report on Alzheimers Disease, and I need to know a few things

1) What percentage of the population has Alzheimers at different ages?
2) What happens inside the brain during the different stages of Alzheimers?
3) How long should a person with each stage of the disease expect to live?

PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR SOURCES!!!! I NEED A BIBLIOGRAPY!!!!

Here are some partial answers:

An Alzheimer's diagnosis cuts a person's remaining life expectancy in half.

This is from a study of 521 people with newly diagnosed Alzheimer disease. They found that the median survival period was 4.2 years for men and 5.7 years for women, about half what a person of the same age who did not have the disease would be expected to live.

It is the most common cause of dementia and affects 4.5 million Americans. However, according to the study, there has been no firm estimate of just how long an Alzheimer's patient has to live.

Dr. Eric Larson and colleagues at the University of Washington followed 521 men and women over 60 who had been recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
Those diagnosed in their 70s lived longer than those diagnosed at age 85 or older, said Larson, director of the Center for Health Studies at the Group Health Cooperative in Seattle and a former medical director of the University of Washington Medical Center.

The study was funded by the National Institute on Aging and published in the Annals of Internal Medicine.

In a paper published in the September 15, 2004, issue of Cerebral Cortex by Buckner and colleagues examined whether typical aging and Alzheimer's disease are on a continuum or distinct. The researchers used MRI to measure the volume of two regions of the brain previously linked with age-associated changes: the corpus callosum, and the medial temporal lobe.

Comparing volume in young adults, older adults without dementia, and individuals with mild dementia of the Alzheimer type, they found clear differences between the effects of normal aging and Alzheimer's disease. The corpus callosum was smaller in older adults, regardless of whether they had dementia. In contrast, volume reductions in the hippocampus were markedly accelerated and larger in people with Alzheimer's disease.

some answers were maybe pre diabetic or diabetes, could this be true? I did have high blood sugar 2 hours after dinner the other night on my fathers meter 194 ,not been to doc about it,just thought hey i had a normal reading after i fasted 83:) THought I'd post here to see if anyone might ave had this kind of hunger with diabetes? tyvm

Extreme hunger on waking would suggest it's more likely your blood sugar has dropped too low in the night, rather than a problem indicating diabetes. You can't really use a random blood sugar as a guide, because it really depends on what exactly it was you ate for dinner. The only way you could really eliminate glucose metabolism as a problem would be to see your doctor and have a glucose tolerance test done. That way, the amount of glucose is known, and they can follow the entire process of the body reacting and dealing with it. Consider when and what you ordinarily eat for dinner, and how long a period of time passes before you eat breakfast. If you are looking at more than 12 hours, it wouldn't be a real surprise that you felt ravenous first thing in the morning. Hunger is usually a pretty good signal your body needs fuel. If you have been trying to do a low carb, high protein diet, that may also be part of the reason. Thirst is the big thing most diabetics notice before they are diagnosed, that and an increased amount of urine output. If your father has any of the urine test strips, you can use those to check to see if sugar is spilling in your urine. But your wisest course of action would be simply to visit your doctor and be tested.

I don't suffer from severe acne so when I've used previous acne treatments my skin gets very irratated and my skin peels. I've tried Proactiv Acne Free and other things but they just wont get rid of the stubborn blackheads on my nose

the perfect thing for theese annoying blackheads is simple. put rubbing alcohol on the affected area. this will dry out the blackheads removing them from your face. this is an ingenius way to get rid of them and it works 100% of the time. HOPE THIS WORKS :)

I am looking for some online support, or a chat room, for weight loss. Does anyone have any recommendations? It doesn’t matter what type of diet the other people are doing, I am just looking for other people to talk to while trying to lose weight.
Just to clarify, I am not looking for a diet, I am looking for people to talk to. I do Weight Watchers, I exercise and I have a very realistic outlook of how much I want to lose in a given week. The first answer I got from Lexi is really weird, so this is why I am clarifying my question.
